Why We Exist
In October 2017, the Tubbs Fire devastated entire neighborhoods in our hometown of Santa Rosa. We watched friends and neighbors lose everything. That alone was difficult, but what came next was even more concerning. Many received insurance estimates that fell far short of the true cost to rebuild their homes.
That’s when we felt called to act…
We started BW Builder because we knew we could help. Bill is a builder who understands the real cost of construction from a lifetime of hands-on experience. Matt spent twenty years guiding people through insurance and financial complexity. Together, we provide what families need most in these moments: clear, honest answers and accurate estimates that reflect what it truly takes to rebuild.
That mission still drives us today. Nearly 600 estimates later, we remain focused on who we serve and why this work matters.

William Wallace, Founder
Bill is a second-generation builder. He grew up on job sites with his father, learned the trade from the ground up, and earned a degree in Corporate Finance. He knows what it takes to build a home because he’s built them. That shows in his work.
Bill has produced nearly 600 Scope of Loss estimates since 2018. None have been challenged. He is meticulous, precise, and cares deeply about getting it right. When he’s not working, he’s playing soccer, helping a friend fix up a car or a house, or spending time with his young family. He’s building a legacy, and this firm is part of it.
Matthew Everson, Founder
Matt started his career inside an insurance company, then spent twenty years running his own financial planning practice. He studied French in college, which he never expected would prepare him for deciphering insurance policies.
He handles client relationships, walks families through the process, and makes sure they understand what they’re entitled to and how to get it.
The cases that stay with him are the vulnerable ones. The older couple, the young family, the single mom, the widow. Faced with a process they do not a stack of paperwork and an adjuster who won’t return their calls. When BW Builder gets their claim resolved and the money released, those clients don’t say “thanks for the estimate.” They say “you’re an angel.” That’s why he does this.
He and Bill wrote the book: Defining the Damages: A Builder’s Guide to Scope of Loss Reports. Outside of work, Matt reads constantly, travels when he can, and never misses a chance to watch soccer with his wife and kids.
When he’s not working, he’s reading, listening to “The Rest is History”, traveling, watching soccer, or spending time with his wife and family.
